A vintage-inspired ring is a ring designed in a vintage-era style. Many vintage-inspired rings are crafted to look similar to those made during the Art Deco era in the 1920s — Halo or Bezel settings, and tapered baguette side stones are all reminiscent of this era.

Your choice of metal or color is entirely up to you. While solid yellow and rose gold are often hues associated with classic vintage styles, platinum or white gold settings are wonderful choices as well. 

Many already have a gold preference before they purchase their engagement ring. If your jewelry collection already consists of yellow gold, it would be best to buy an 18k solid [yellow gold engagement ring to match since you will likely wear it every day.

Although nearly any combination of center and side stones would achieve a vintage look, fancy diamond shapes like Pear, Marquise, and Asscher at the center are particularly Art Deco-inspired. A vintage engagement ring is technically anything at least 20 years old, while an antique ring would refer to a design over 100 years old. But often, when it comes to engagement rings, “vintage” and “vintage-inspired” are used interchangeably and refer to a ring’s style rather than its actual age. 

A simple weekly cleaning routine involves soaking your ring in a small bowl filled with warm water and a few drops of liquid dishwashing soap. After thirty to forty five minutes, remove the ring and brush it gently with a soft-bristle toothbrush, then rinse and pat dry with a soft towel. 

There are no right and wrong options for pairing a wedding band with a vintage or vintage-inspired engagement ring other than making sure the two can be worn together comfortably, if so desired. Traditionally, curved bands, unique or fancy diamond shapes, or pavé and halo details are considered best for a vintage-inspired look, but each couple should choose the pairing that reflects their personal style.
